"Getting into the Kansas roofing industry just got harder, at least for unscrupulous contractors. Starting July, all roofing contractors are required to sign up with the Attorney General, and secure a contractor registration certificate to legitimize their operations. The mandatory registration covers companies involved in roofing in Wichita and other areas in the so-called “Sunflower State.” The new legislation passed in April aims to protect residents from being victimized by dishonest contractors. This more stringent policy intends to crack down on itinerant outfits that prey on hapless homeowners who are in desperate situations and need their roofs repaired. According to authorities, these unknown personalities are especially rampant after a storm or tornado, as the go around offering roofing services to unsuspecting community members."
